Ready for the summer season 2degrees have launched a new app, Data Hunt.
Using an interactive GPS map and augmented vision it lets 2degrees customers use their mobiles to discover over 1600 2degrees Data Pins that have been dropped all around the country. They’re everywhere that will be popular over the summer – parks, beaches, cities and holiday hotspots. Even big crowd events, like in the middle of the pitch at the Black Caps cricket matches.
Players can collect blue pins worth 30MB through to 1GB, and a select bunch of gold pins deliver massive data prizes of over 1GB.
To drive acquisition, Data Hunt can also be used by non 2degrees customers, who get to keep the data they’ve collected if they switch before the end of January.
Sign up to the app is being driven by TV and social and outdoor.
In its first week Data Hunt trended #1 in App Store and Google Play Store, got downloaded 70,000 times and played over 500,000 times. 3500 non customers even joined in the fun.
